A. In order to align with the demanding schedules of today's professionals, the MSCJA program offers 4 sessions per year. Each session is 11 weeks in duration. Students have the option of entering 4 times a year (January, April, July, and October). Request information for the next start date.

Q. What kind of educational background is required for admission?

A. When selecting candidates, the Faculty Admissions Committee considers academic performance, professional experience, recommendations and a candidate's goal statement. Speak with an Admissions Advisor to learn more about the admissions process.

Q. Is there a thesis required?

A. No, a thesis is not required in this program.

Q. How many total credits are required?

A. The MSCJA online program consists of 36 credit hours. For answers to your questions regarding your specific requirements, contact an Admissions Advisor at 866-789-9809.

Q. How many courses do I take per academic term?

A. Most adult students, who work full-time, take 6 credit hours (2 courses) per eleven-week session. The online Master of Science in Criminal Justice Administration program offers four academic sessions per year, which means that most students take 24 credit hours of courses per year.

Q. Is there a residency requirement with MSCJA degree?

A. No, the Master of Science in Criminal Justice Administration is fully online. There is no requirement to travel to the campus in New Orleans.

Q. Is advising available for all students?

A. Yes, each student will receive a customized Curriculum Planner for the online MSCJA program and can set up a telephone appointment to speak with their Student Services Coordinator whenever assistance is needed.

Q. Can graduate courses that I have completed at other institutions be evaluated for transfer credit?

A. Yes, if you have completed graduate level courses at other regionally accredited institutions Loyola University New Orleans will evaluate them for possible transfer into the program as an elective. In order to have your courses evaluated you must submit a course description and syllabus for the course.

Q. Can professional training / certifications that I have obtained be considered for transfer credit?

A. Yes, if you have completed professional training or certifications Loyola University New Orleans may consider it for transfer credit on a case-by-case basis. You may be required to submit a portfolio that demonstrates your proficiency with specific objectives. This will be managed on a case-by-case basis.
